Showers Tuesday morning, thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon

NOW: Showers Tuesday morning, thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon

ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Forecast
Monday, September 23, 2024

Stubborn clouds have kept temperatures in the 60s today across Michiana. Some will make a run at 70 degrees by sunset, but it'll likely remain and cool and cloudy evening. Rain showers hold off until early Tuesday morning with temperatures in the 60s.

Showers are likely for the first half of Tuesday, then we'll have to watch the sky closely during the afternoon and evening. If we can get some sunshine during the early afternoon, some thunderstorms are possible by the commute home tomorrow. The severe threat is higher to our south and east, but we'll have to watch areas in Marshall, Fulton, Kosciusko, and Elkhart counties closely. Hail, damaging winds, and even a brief tornado are possible. Any severe threat should end by 9 PM Tuesday.

Wednesday will likely be our sunniest day this week, with highs in the middle 70s. Clouds will move back in throughout Thursday, with a few rain showers possible Friday. We're keeping tabs on a burgeoning tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico. This system will eventually be named Helene and might try to (eventually) bring us rain this weekend. There's still plenty of uncertainty here, so we'll update you throughout the week in later forecasts.

Tonight: Cloudy with showers arriving late. Low 62.

Tuesday: Cloudy with rain in the morning, and strong thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and early evening. High 72.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy. High 75.

Thursday: Partly to mostly cloudy. High 78.
