Silver Beach sees a peaceful Fourth of July weekend

Increased patrols at Silver Beach for Independence Day celebrations kept the crowd peaceful.

Chief Deputy Mike Bradley with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says they did not see any major issues this year at the festivities.

The 2015 celebration turned chaotic when fights broke out, and people started shouting and throwing things.

Deputy Bradley says this year the majority of tickets were for alcohol violations.

He says last year’s incident didn’t prevent people from coming this year.

“Crowd today is probably just as big as it was last year. We are having a lot of positive feedback when we do run into the crowd. When we do run into issues even those folks are being pleasant about it,” said Deputy Bradley.
