Silver Hawks season opener Thursday night

The Silver Hawks open their 2013 season Thursday at Coveleski Stadium. They are expecting a great crowd, especially with the clear weather.

The Silver Hawks made quite a few improvements to the stadium during the off season.

Fans will see a new video board and tiki hut and will hear the sound through new speakers.

They will also feel the rumble of the fog horn, the same one used at Yankee Stadium every time players hit a home run.

There are also new food options including stir fry, gluten free and healthy fruit salad along with the typical hamburgers and hot dogs.

"With the pony rides and the face painting before the game, it's part carnival, part ballgame, part great time.  and it's extraordinary. All that value for an $8 or $10 ticket,” said Andrew Berlin, owner of the Silver Hawks.
