One injured in Cass county crash early Sunday morning
CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Officials responded to a single-vehicle injury crash on Rudy Road in Wayne Township at 1:27 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
Initial investigations showed that a 25-year-old Dowagiac man was heading south on Rudy Road in a pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle, running off the roadway into a tree, according to officials.
The driver was reportedly able to exit the vehicle through the driver side window.
According to deputies, the vehicle caught on fire, and was extinguished by the Wayne Township and Dowagiac Fire Departments.
The driver was evaluated by medical officials on the scene and transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash, and a seatbelt was worn.
