Six-vehicle crash leaves one dead, multiple with injuries

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A crash involving six vehicles Jan. 4 has left one man dead and multiple others injured.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash scene at around 2:50 p.m. Monday afternoon near U.S. 6 and C.R. 100.

According to police reports, an Isuzu box truck was traveling east bound on U.S. 6 and failed to slow down when approaching the intersection of U.S. 6 and C.R. 100.

The Isuzu crashed into the back of a Toyota RAV-4, causing a ripple effect that impacted four other cars in front of it.

The driver of the Toyota, 55-year-old Noel Jimenez of Bremen, was transported to Memorial Hospital where he later died from severe internal injuries caused by the crash.

The driver of the box truck and four people in the other vehicles suffered various injuries as a result of the crash.

The driver of the box truck was not cited at the scene but the incident is still under investigation.
