Skylar Diggins returns to inspire young women

Who better to address the young ladies of the Boys and Girls Club of Benton Harbor, than Skylar Diggins, a former Boys and Girls Club member herself.

The former Irish basketball player and current WNBA superstar Skylar Diggins was part of the Boys and Girls Club on Fellows Street today her message  to everyone in the room inside the Fettig Youth Campus was, “be who you want to be.”

Diggins received a standing ovation and was Wednesday afternoon’s keynote speaker for a luncheon celebrating the Boys and Girls Club Smart Girl of the Year.

Diggins says its importance to communities like Benton Harbor cannot be overlooked,

“I think with young girls the message needs to be continue to be yourself no matter what you bring to the table understand your unique, second push yourself try to see how high your elevator can go and three surround yourself with positive people and mentors that think like you and those are going to be my three messages that I tell the kids today,” said Diggins.
