Small Tenn. town has speed limit of 31 mph

TRENTON, Tenn. — A town in Tennessee is receiving national attention for a rare law.

The speed limit through Trenton, Tennessee is 31 miles per hour.

That's not a typo, that's intentional.

In fact, if you walk into City Hall, you'll see t-shirts and other items advertising it.

The town historian says the ordinance dates back to the 1960s. City officials couldn't agree on a speed limit and compromised on 31.

Trenton is a small town of about 4,000 people.
