South Bend announces third round of ‘Acts of Kindness’ grants

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A new round of Love Your Block “Acts of Kindness” grants are coming to the City of South Bend, the city’s Engagement and Economic Empowerment team announced on Monday.

“Acts of Kindness” grants of up to $250 are for residents or nonprofit organizations designed to help neighbors, develop new programs, and do good in the community.

These grants are given to those who come up with creative ways to help their community. This latest round of grants will particularly prioritize projects that promote COVID-19 vaccination and local awareness about the vaccine, according to the City of South Bend's website.

"Last year, awardees created youth engagement activities, improved a neighborhood food pantry, repaired a lending library, and inspired their neighbors in invaluable ways,” said Alkeyna Aldridge, Director of Engagement and Economic Empowerment. “We welcome applications that continue to improve our neighborhoods and communities as great places to live and grow."

Love Your Block is a program that connects local residents with community stakeholders and city agencies to help revitalize communities, according to the City of South Bend’s website.
