South Bend business creates special wooden Christmas ornaments

The holiday season is in full swing, and that means it’s time to put up those holiday decorations. But if you’re lacking some ornaments on your Christmas tree branches, a South Bend business can help you out.

South Bend Woodworks makes all different types of woodwork creations. For the holidays, they have ‘Decorate Your Own’ ornaments as part of their #NoNakedTrees campaign.

“Unlike the collegiate ornaments which are already finished and all ready to go, these color your own ornaments are just blank wood with a certain amount of lines and each child can select their own colors,” said Mike Lindburg, President of South Bend Woodworks.

They came up with #NoNakedTrees because they don’t want your tree looking bare.

They come in a 5 piece collection that includes a wreath, snowman, Christmas tree, gingerbread man and a Santa clause ornament.

To create them, they use a high-tech laser machine that not only can draw the design, but cuts out each ornament from wood. That way, the ornaments are durable and safe for kids.

If you order the ornaments, you can enter the #NoNakedTrees photo contest.

“We’re asking folks who buy them to send us photos of what their children color and at the end of the season we will pick a winner and send out a gift,” Lindburg said.

All you have to do is color the ornaments, snap a photo, post the picture with the hashtag #NoNakedTrees and tag South Bend Woodworks on social media. Two winners will be picked randomly on January 1st.

The grand prize is a five piece pull-along train set. The set includes an engine, coal car, freight car, tanker, and a caboose pull-along train.
