South Bend Center for the Homeless to host 16th Annual Dancing With Our Stars

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Fans of the popular television show Dancing with the Stars are in for a treat when the South Bend Center for the Homeless puts on its 16th annual Dancing with our Stars this Friday at the Gillespie Event Center.

The competition, which will start at 6:30 p.m., will feature over a dozen local dancing duos who will be competing for votes while raising money for the unhoused in our community.

"Dancing with our Stars promises to be an evening of talent and compassion as 15 teams take to the dance floor to compete for votes, all in support of the Center for the Homeless," organizers said. "Each vote costs $45, symbolizing the essential support needed to sustain one individual at the homeless center for an entire day."

Those who attend can expect to see local dance teams deliver routines in multiple dance styles. Organizers say five dance instructors -- Amy O'Day, Nicole Majewski, Jake Wilson, Kevin Guy, and Matt Smith -- have volunteered their time and expertise to help prepare each team for the stage.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the 16th year of Dancing with our Stars, bringing together our community in a unique and impactful way to support the Center for the Homeless," said Laney Smous, Chief Marketing and Stewardship Officer at the Center for the Homeless. "Every vote cast during this event represents not only financial support but also a vote of confidence in our mission to provide shelter, resources, and hope to those in need."

Organizers are expecting roughly 450 attendees.

"The event promises to be a celebration of community spirit and generosity, all in the name of supporting individuals experiencing homelessness," organizers said. "The Center for the Homeless extends its gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and attendees for their invaluable support in making this event possible."
