SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Joe Hart, President of the South Bend Cubs, was live in ABC57’s studio on Thursday morning to discuss the upcoming baseball season.

The South Bend Cubs had a successful season in 2019, including hosting games in the Midwest League Championship and then winning the series.

“It’s hard to believe; here we are getting ready to start up. We’re 35 days away from opening day. Individual tickets go on sale next Wednesday,” Hart said.

In 2019, the South Bend team hosted the All-Star Game and Hart hopes that the upcoming season is just as fun, if not more exciting, than last year.

Four Winds Field will be packed with theme nights and giveaways for the 2020 season, including opportunities for fans to go home with replica championship merchandise.

“The best thing is going to be the replica championship ring,” Hart said. “The first half of the season we’re going to celebrate what we did last season with the championship.”

Theme nights for the 2020 season range from everything from Christmas in July to Comic Book Hero Day.

About seven or eight players that finished the season with the South Bend Cubs will start the season in South Bend again, Hart said. Team Manager Buddy Bailey will also return this season.

VIP Packages for the 2020 season go on sale March 9. Single game tickets go on sale March 11.

Opening day for the 2020 season is April 9.
