South Bend Cubs release 2023 roster
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Cubs released their 2023 roster in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs. This year's team is comprised of 31 players.
This year's roster includes 16 pitchers, four catchers, six infielders and five outfielders.
Headlining the roster is Chicago Cubs number-two overall prospect Kevin Alcántara, an outfielder acquired by Chicago from the Yankees in exchange for Anthony Rizzo in 2021.
Returning to the Cubs this season are 15, 2022 Midwest League Champions, including pitchers Brad Deppermann, Kohl Franklin, Richard Gallardo, Adam Laskey, Luke Little, Joe Nahas, Sheldon Reed, Didier Vargas and Jarod Wright and position players Casey Opitz, Kevin Made, Scott McKeon, Fabian Pertuz, Bradlee Beesley, and Yohendrick Pinango.
Also returning is Cubs manager Lance Rymel, who helped lead the team to last year's Midwest League Championship.
