South Bend Firefighters Association is holding its annual Mr. & Mrs. Smoker Fundraiser.
Firefighters say the night of food, drinks, and gambling helps send children to Hoosier Burn Camp, put smoke detectors in homes, and maintain their Survive Alive Safety House.
“This is close. You don't have to drive far to go spend any money. And if you do lose a little money, you know it's going to a great cause and it stays here in the community,” says Gerard Ellis of the South Bend Firefighter's Association.
The event is being held this Saturday at 6 p.m. at the South Bend Firefighters Union Hall on Lincolnway West.
