South Bend High School Music Festival highlights student talent
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The third annual South Bend High School Music Festival was held Tuesday at the Morris Performing Arts Center.
Over 250 students from across Riley, Washington, and Adams high school came together to perform all types of music.
Bands, drumline, choir, orchestra, percussion, Jazz Band and all sorts of music ensemble preformed pieces that they played throughout their school year.
Kemilyn Schreiber, Fine Arts curriculum facilitator for South Bend community schools, stated, "Being involved In band, orchestra, choir, or any of the arts is just it's a basic need for all of us, and we have whether you are a performer or just a consumer of the arts, we've all been touched by them, and their inclusion in our lives is so very important. Aside, as far as education wise, study after study has shown us that students who participate in music programs and visual art programs excel on their testing. They're able to connect what they learn in these classes to their academics and apply them to increase their success."
