SOUTH BEND, Ind. – It was learned that the victim of the fatal hit-and-run outside the Linebacker Lounge in South Bend on Sunday had graduated from Notre Dame in 2014.
27-year-old Hannah Turgeon was visiting South Bend from Denver where she lived.
Early Sunday morning (at around 2:15 a.m.), Turgeon was crossing the road on South Bend Avenue near Edison Road when she was struck by a large dark SUV. The driver fled from the scene without stopping.
Father Jenkins, Notre Dame’s President, took a moment to discuss the tragic incident with ABC57.
“Hannah was a 2014 graduate,” Jenkins said. “Her father was a 1981 graduate and I just want to express my condolences to the family for this tragic death of Hannah.”
The South Bend Police Department is urging anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run to give them a call.
