SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Community leaders and residents met to give feedback on how the South Bend Police Department can work to strengthen and build relationships in the communities they serve.
The newly appointed director of the community police review board, Charles King, was in attendance for his first Community Action Group in his new role.
He said he was happy with how the nights dialogue went and is excited to see the conversations it sparks in the future.
"I would rather see people talk about solutions than problems, so hopefully these meetings produce that type of dialogue, that’s solution driven. Everyone can find a problem but to find a solution is key and I think we had the right leaders in here tonight to help solve that problem and were looking for more.", said King.
The officers in attendance say they are ready to implement some of the feedback received as soon as possible, along with from the feedback surveys put out earlier this summer as part of their new community policing initiatives.
