South Bend introduces new interactive installation at Plaza Park

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Venues Parks & Arts unveiled a new interactive installation at Plaza Park in collaboration with Montreal-based placemaking company, Daily tous les jours.

The installation, called "Daydreamer" features three LED-illuminated, rotating benches accompanied by music.

Daydreamer is the first of its kind in the world and encourages togetherness at the park.

“It's been an honour to contribute to the revitalization of the waterfront with the installation of Daydreamer,” said Mélissa Mongiat and Mouna Andraos, co-founder of the studio and creative director of Daydreamer. “Over the past few years, we've been inspired by the energy and commitment South Bend has demonstrated in activating one of its most precious assets – the river – as a new heart for a renewed city. With increasingly anxious and divided cities, we want to bring a new type of infrastructure to the table, one for collective daydreaming.”

The piece was funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and Robby & Pamela Rask Family. The project took almost three years to complete.

Daydreamer has already been awarded the HUB Montreal Award for BEST in Public Art.
