South Bend kids can get free haircuts and school supplies

As your kids head back to school, some local barbershops are teaming up to make sure they've got a fresh cut; and a few fresh supplies too.

Barbers are giving out haircuts and school supplies, all for free.

It's called "Hair Kutz 4 Kids." This is the 11th year for the annual program. Some of the black owned barbershops in South Bend are teaming up, giving free haircuts Monday at the Monroe Circle Community Center.

Five Below, Four Winds Casino and Temple contractors are also helping to make sure more than 400 kids get free school supplies and lunch.

"The thing is it's about them," said Henry Davis Jr., organizer of the event. We have to make sure we are paying attention to our children and growing up in an environment that's conducive to growth."

It all goes down Monday at 8am at the Monroe Circle Community center. Supplies and lunch are on a first come first serve basis, so get there early. It ends at 4pm.
