South Bend Mayor urges caution with incoming snow storm

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The mayor's office released a statement urging those in the city to use caution over the next couple days with the incoming snow storm.

“I have been in regular communication with the Street Department and the city is prepared to handle the incoming snowstorm,” Mayor Buttigieg said.

The mayor also said, “Our crews have always excelled at removing snow from our streets and I want to assure each resident that the city is working around the clock to keep our streets safe for residents"

The city is preparing for the first major snow storm of the season with heavy snow forecasted and strong winds that could create white out conditions.
Pete Kaminski and J.P. Pemberton are leading the city’s snow removal efforts.
“People should drive slower than usual and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination,” said Lt. Steve Goen of the South Bend Police Department.
“Take extra precautions, like leaving extra distance between a car in front of you and braking early. Always remember to wear your seatbelt.”
