South Bend mayor's office says home demolition plan is a go
SOUTH BEND — It seems the state, South Bend common council, and South Bend mayor's office are all on the same page when it comes to the demolition of vacant homes in South Bend.
The mayor's office and the Indiana Department of Environment Management appear to be in agreement when it comes to the regulations requiring asbestos removal from homes.
The council went public with information. Friday councilman Oliver Davis shared with the media a letter from the mayor's office.
It says the administration will comply with the regulations.
Davis also says raising this issue through the media after not getting responses from the city in a timely fashion has raised community awareness of asbestos regulations.
