SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Today the South Bend Medical Foundation held their "Fallen Officers Blood Drive."
The goal is to highlight the life-saving need for blood supplies in area hospitals, while remembering the officers who have been killed in service to their community.
On June 20, the Medical Foundation will hold another event to honor the 15 officers who have died in South Bend since the department was founded in 1897.
And this Friday is World Blood Donor Day, which aims to raise awareness for the need for safe blood donations worldwide.
