A South Bend man, who serves in the Air Force, returned to Michiana Friday after spending 7 months in Africa.
Sergeant Sergio Dickerson-Brown, a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force, graduated from Washington High School in 2012.
He says he's happy to be home.
"I've been away seven months in Africa, just got back this past Saturday. Happy to be home with family. Happy to be back," Dickerson-Brown said.
His father was happy to have him home, too.
"It's good to see his face but it's actually wonderful being able to put my arms around him and tell him how much I love him and how much I appreciate him and now he's back and he can see his sons grow up and try to influence their lives like I influenced his," George Brown said.
Sergeant Dickerson-Brown has also served in Afghanistan.
