South Bend Police investigating a shooting on Western Avenue
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – South Bend Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of W. Western Ave. Saturday night.
Officers were informed of a walk-in shooting victim around 10:20 p.m. at the hospital.
The victim, a 22-year-old male, has a non-life threatening injury to the leg.
Around 20 minutes earlier, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of W. Western for a ShotSpotter alert. At the time, no victim was found.
Through the initial investigation, officers learned that the victim was in a car in the 2300 block of W. Western when he heard shots and then noticed he was injured. He arrived at the hospital for treatment.
The SBPD Investigative Bureau is directing interviews and continues to investigate.
