South Bend Police launch donation drive to 'Stock Up for Summer'
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department and S.A.V.E. Outreach have teamed up for a new donation drive to help stock up the police department's food pantry before summer begins.
Donations of non-perishable food items, hygiene products, baby formula and diapers are now being accepted for the department's Stock Up for Summer Food & Necessities drive.
From now through May 5, community members can place these donations into drop boxes at the police department, located at 701 W. Sample St., or at Goodwill's Career Center, located at 1805 W. Western Ave.
These donations will support the SBPD Food Pantry and other community organizations throughout the summer.
South Bend officers utilize the food pantry when they encounter families in their patrol areas who might need extra help.
The monthlong donation period culminates with the department's food drive event on May 6 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Check out the attached graphic for a more detailed list of what items can be donated.
