South Bend priest killed in hit and run accused of sexual abuse

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Father Jan Klimczyk, a South Bend priest killed in a hit and run crash in August 2022, has been accused of sexually abusing a minor, according to the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

Father Klimczyk was added to the Diocese’s “Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor” list.

The Diocese did not specify when the alleged abuse took place.

Father Klimczyk served at multiple parishes across St. Joseph County, including at Saint Adalbert.

The Diocese has offered prayers to those who have been affected and, "stands firm in its commitment to investigate any allegation of sexual abuse."
