South Bend recognized as top college football city

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – ‘Sporting News’ is telling its readers something the folks of South Bend already know.
South Bend is the best college football city. The sports magazine made the declaration this month. It says the reasons South Bend is so great, is because of Notre Dame's campus.
It also mentions the unmatched history and tradition of the Fighting Irish, and it says despite the downturn since Lou Holtz retired as coach in 1996, Notre Dame is still Notre Dame.
The Irish still are the biggest television draw of any team or conference in college football.
