South Bend Roller Girls host car wash fundraiser

The South Bend Roller Girls (SBRG) are gearing up for their upcoming roller derby season with a car wash and bake sale this Saturday. Hall Chrysler of Mishawaka will host the roller girls from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the corner of McKinley Ave. and Main St.

The suggested donation for the car wash is $5 and baked goods will include gluten free options. SBRG merchandise will also be available for purchase at Saturday’s fundraiser. All money raised will help fund the league and pay for rink rental costs, travel, and medical expenses as skaters train for the competitive 2012-2013 season.

The league is also committed to giving back to the community. The season, which runs from October to May, will showcase a local charity at each of the five home events, raising funds and awareness for each selected cause.
