SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Roller Girls are skating back onto the home rink for the first time in three years on Saturday.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club was going strong with high membership numbers and even won their first bout of the season before getting shut down.

Over the past three years, it took extra special attention from some of the clubs most seasoned veterans to keep the group from disbanding.

One of the clubs' original members, Micah "Alotta Pusha" Niespodziany, helped see the club through the worst of the pandemic.

"My teammate Captain Beefstock and I were a couple of probably about four or five of us that made it keep going. We just kept coming and even though there'd only be like two people or three people at practice."

The team is thrilled to return to the home rink, as it checks the final box in the clubs COVID-recovery.

"It feels amazing to get back to it. It took us a long time, a full year of recruitment to get the numbers we have now." said co-captain Captain Beefstock.

Anyone interested in attending can roll on down to the Michiana Roller Rink on Saturday at 2 p.m.
