South Bend’s TakeOut 25 aims to support downtown restaurants

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Downtown South Bend, Inc. announced the launch of a new initiative today with the goal of supporting restaurants and restaurant jobs downtown.

The TakeOut 25 program asks community members to pledge to spend $25 a week on take-out at restaurants in Downtown South Bend.

The original concept started a few months ago in Oak Park, Illinois and has been measurably successful since its launch in that community.

Downtown South Bend, Inc. hopes to use the campaign to support local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the organization, spending $25 a week could bring an average of $20,000 a month to each downtown restaurant.

Community members interested in participating are asked to join the “TakeOut 25 Downtown South Bend” Facebook group to take the pledge.

From there, participants can post pictures of their carryout items on the group page.

Each post will be entered into a monthly drawing to win a $100 gift card to the restaurant mentioned in their post.
