SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- When parents drop their kids off at the bus stop for school, they entrust bus drivers with their children's lives.
That's why, when a concerned viewer sent ABC57 News a picture of a South Bend school bus, sitting under a railroad crossing arm, some parents started to panic.
It was a picture of a morning commute that no parent wants to see.
The viewer tells ABC57 News that he had to take that picture, because he just couldn't believe his eyes.
He says, the bus was just sitting there, way too close to the tracks for comfort.
Moments later, after the picture was taken, he says the South Shore Train whizzed by.
He says, the bus didn't budge.
ABC57 News reached out to the South Bend Community School Corporation.
The spokesperson, George Jones, says "This is officially under investigation. The driver is going to be placed on leave during the investigation."
Thankfully, there were no injuries and the district says no children were on board the bus at the time.
