South Bend Schools to close down on November 19
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Community School Corporation announced in a Facebook post that all schools in the district will close down on November 19 in support of education workers and students.
The Corporation said, “We want to provide our teachers and staff with the opportunity to exercise their rights and take this day to advocate for public education and for their students.”
The one-day closing is part of the Red for Ed initiative, which aims at making education a priority for state lawmakers.
It is also part of a push to increase teacher pay.
Indiana teachers participated in a similar "Red for Ed" day back in March.
