SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Employees at the South Bend Tribune joined a nationwide protest on Monday, calling for better pay from their parent company, Gannett.
Many Tribune workers have gone a decade or longer without pay raises, according to the South Bend News Guild.
Gannet has also shrunk the paper’s staff to nearly a third of what it was three years ago, back when the paper formed a union, the guild said.
Employees gathered Monday morning to march along South Main Street in downtown South Bend.
Some of those who joined the protest have been at the Tribune for decades and witnessed the loss in employees firsthand.
