SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Venues Parks & Arts is celebrating the grand opening of new pickleball courts at Boehm Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony and memorial tournament on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The pickleball courts honor Lee “Ray” Comer, who devoted himself to working for the City of South Bend for 23 years.

The event is also a fundraiser, and money collected by the Michiana Pickleball Club will be donated to the South Bend VPA’s Scholarship Fund as well as a memorial bench for Comer at the park.

The scholarship fund offers reduced recreational rates to families who would benefit from time in the parks.
