South Haven installs flag system to warn swimmers of dangers

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The city of South Haven is taking new steps to warn swimmers of dangerous conditions.

The city is putting in a flag system at its seven beaches along Lake Michigan. The green, yellow and red flags will help beach goers identify conditions on the water.

This new system is in response to a 2009 drowning settlement.

The city is also installing call boxes on two of its beaches as part of that settlement.
