South Shore Line maintains mask mandate until April 18

South Shore Line passengers and employees are required to wear masks until at least April 18.

All South Shore Line passengers and employees are required to wear masks or face coverings, regardless of vaccination status, until April 18 in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration’s mask order.

South Shore Line employees will continue to follow the Federal Railroad Administration’s “Emergency Order Requiring Face Mask Use in Railroad Operations” until further notice.

Masks are required when inside all South Shore Line stations and trains in Indiana and Illinois.

Employees will continue to enforce this mandate and passengers risk being removed from trains if they do not comply.

The South Shore Line will continue to provide free masks for those who need them.

Social distancing is still recommended when possible.

Passengers under the age of two or those who have medical/health issues are exempt from the mask mandate.
