South Shore Rail Line tightens security for NATO Summit

CHESTERTON, Ind. -- Cancellations, tightened security, and strict luggage rules -- that's what South Shore travelers can expect this weekend, due to the NATO Summit in Chicago.

The NICTD said that all riders will go through security checkpoints.

Westbound trains will be thoroughly screened by K-9 officers.

Several Chicago stops will even be closed Saturday though Monday.

Another inconvenience to prepare for -- you can only have one bag. Backpacks and boxes will not be allowed.

No alcohol will be allowed on the trains from May 18 to 21.
