MISHAWAKA, Ind. – There was a public discussion on elder abuse in Michiana at the Battell Center Thursday afternoon.
ABC 57’s Brian Doorman emceed the event which highlighted the different types of abuse, and how to look out for them.
Malana Maher, the Director of Marketing American Senior Communities at Creekside Village spoke with Brian about ways she thinks this discussion can help change the trend of abuse directed towards our elders.
Brian and Malana spoke about 85-year-old Mary Claypool who was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher by her daughter in March.
Malana says that if you sense someone you know is being abused, that you need to speak up.
