ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- A St. Joe non-profit invites you to commemorate loves ones lost to wars this Memorial Day weekend.
Lory's Place is a grief healing and education center, serving Southwest Michigan and beyond since November of 2004.
It was founded by Lisa Bartoszek, whose friend, Lory Schults, passed in a fatal car crash earlier that year.
Lory's Place works with kids, teens and adults to help them navigate and work through feelings of grief, sadness, loneliness, etc.
Unaddressed grief has been linked to negative impacts on physical and mental wellbeing in individuals, and recognizing that there was no real grief center in the area, Lisa founded her own.
Today, Lory's Place invites the community to come out for a candle lighting and a time of sharing memories of loved ones inside it's recently renovated space.
You'll be able to share your feelings and memories with others who have also experienced a similar loss, and can relate to what you're going through.
While this is the first Memorial Day event of its kind for the non-profit, it also hosts similar special events every month, some even reoccurring.
For more information about Lory's Place, you can visit this website or their Facebook page.
