ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.--- The St. Joseph County 4H fair had quite the turnout over its opening weekend with thousands of people enjoying the festivities. The fair was canceled last year due to the COVID pandemic.
"Oh my goodness, like a breath of fresh air," said Anthony Gullens, who attended the fair on Monday. "I’ve been so looking forward to being around people again without the masks and the mandate and that type of stuff."
Organizers say they're encouraged by how well the return of the fair has been received over the first four days.
"I think because of the pent up demand for something fun do and the heartache for the 4Hers that didn’t get to have a celebration last summer all plays into it," said Jim Caldwell, President of the St. Joseph County 4H Fairgrounds. "This is the first big event in over a year and half, beautiful weather at the 4H fair and it all comes together for a good time."
