ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - St. Joseph County officials are gearing up for a big year of projects, specifically in the New Carlisle area.
The St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission approved an agreement with Eagleview Friday.
Eagleview is a technology company that does aerial imagery of the county already, but officials are wanting them to take pictures over the New Carlisle area every six months for the next three years.
The reason is to show the progress of the economic area in New Carlisle, especially the upcoming General Motors EV battery plant.
Bill Schalliol, Director of Economic Development for St. Joseph County, ststaed, "Yeah, so the county has a pretty robust GIS system or actually the regional GIS system is pretty robust. But we thought with all the activity happening in the New Carlisle area, it was good to have updated aerials on a regular basis that we can use for planning, presentations, things like that."
Schalliol says while the General Motors project will slow down during the holiday season, they will be back out there in full force in January.
