St. Joseph County jail and police hosting Dyngus Day food drive

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.— Officials at the St. Joseph County Police Department and Jail are planning to hold a Dyngus Day Food Drive to help community members.

Officials said that because of high unemployment levels in the community due to the COVID-19 pandemic, police are hoping to help with food insecurity by hosting the event.

The food drive will take place on Monday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A “socially distant” food collection area will be set up outside of the St. Joseph County Jail, located at 401 West Sample Street in South Bend.

Anyone who wishes to donate can drive-thru and drop the donation out of their car window.

All donations will be given to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
