St. Joseph County Police K-9 Luna shot in the leg, now in stable condition

The St. Joseph County Police K-9 Luna, who was shot Tuesday while assisting in the search for a suspect in the Cleveland Road area, is now in stable condition.

Luna was shot in her inner right thigh and was rushed to an area animal hospital, then transported to a 24 hour emergency clinic.

Luna arrived at the emergency clinic in Westville at 5:49 p.m. for further treatment.

The bullet appears to have missed her leg bone, but may have clipped her femoral artery.

She is scheduled for surgery.
