MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The ribbon cutting for a doctor's office on wheels took place on July 13. St. Joseph Health's second mobile medical unit will launch this fall.

The second unit will provide examinations, vaccination and screenings.

St. Joseph Health has previously had huge success with their first mobile unit, which started in 2006. This community reception has prompted to create more health opportunities.

Spanning 40-feet long, the first mobile unit screened for mammograms, giving the same efficient screening that you would receive in a medical office.

However, this mobile office comes to you!

Staffed with medical assistants and certified health workers, their 3d digital mammography helped detect cancer earlier.

They've already screened for more than 18,000 mammograms in the community.

"We've been able to alter and change lives with these units," says Chris Karam, President of Saint Joseph Health System.

The accessibility of the mobile medical unit promotes positive health and positive health behaviors by bringing both of their mobile medical units to corporate events that businesses can schedule on sjmed.com.
