St. Joseph High School on soft lockdown Tuesday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- St. Joseph High School in South Bend was on a soft lockdown on Tuesday after a possible threat was discovered.

St. Joseph County dispatch says they received a call about vandalism at the high school around 11:30 a.m.

A person had written "It's going down at 1:00" on the back of a urinal, according to school officials.

The soft lockdown was lifted after the school was searched.

The school released a statement about the incident

Today, March 20, 2018, just before noon, a staff member reported that an indirect threat was newly written on the back of the urinal in the second floor men’s restroom: “It’s going down at 1:00.”

Administration immediately called law enforcement, who arrived within moments. The school was then put on soft lockdown, searched, and cleared.

We, at Saint Joe, take any threat to student safety very seriously. Please help us provide a secure environment for all by speaking with your children about reporting any safety concerns they may hear or encounter in school, out of school, or on social media.
