St. Joseph Township breaking and entering of local Ace Hardware ends in arrests in Benton Harbor

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- St. Joseph Township Police are investigating a break-in at the Ace Hardware on Niles Road.

Police were called to the store just before 7 a.m. Saturday after the alarm activated.

When police arrived, they discovered damage to the front doors which appeared to be where suspects entered the business.

During the investigation, police obtained surveillance video from the store.

The video helped police identify two suspect vehicles and nine suspects who allegedly entered the store and caused damage inside.

Around 9 a.m., deputies with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office located one of the suspect vehicles at a gas station. Two suspects were taken into custody on charges related to the break in and an unrelated incident, police said.

The names of the suspects are not being released because they are juveniles.
