St. Patrick’s Park hosting free water monitor training in May

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Volunteers can become certified to monitor a stream thanks to free workshops by the Hoosier Riverwatch Program at St. Patrick’s County park next month.

Participants will earn hands-on experience in the use of chemical testing kits and aquatic insect collection and identification.

Once training is complete, volunteers can test local streams and submit data to a statewide database.

The training will take place in two sessions at the park: Saturday, May 8 and Saturday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.

Training is open to all adults.

The training will take place both indoor and outdoors and participants are asked to attend both sessions.

Participants should meet at the Brown Barn in the Park at 8:30 a.m.

The program is free but registration is required by April 28. Call 574-654-3155 to register.
