Steel employees report payroll problems

MUSKEGON, Mich. -- A Lakeshore Michigan company is accused of issuing paychecks the bank won't cash.

Employees of Michigan Steel have discovered over the last three weeks that their paychecks are worthless and employees at the steel company are saying management is keeping quiet about the payroll problem.

One worker finally went to police and discovered in order to collect his two checks he might have to hire an attorney.

"Everyday the last two weeks, no money, no money, no money," said Tory Barners, Michigan Steel Worker. "The hourly people they ain't [sic] said anything to just kept us right in the dark."

Employees at other companies across the state owned by Michigan Steel also said they're having similar problems.
