IN cuts public media funding, PBS Michiana loses 10% of its budget
ABC57 has been highlighting charities throughout Michiana and their impacts on the community. Sometimes it’s the heroes that need help. Stop 22 Michiana is raising awareness of a troubling trend in veteran suicides.
Jason Rhodes, a Marine born in Mishawaka, died by suicide at just 30-years-old. His death prompted local veterans to create Stop 22 Michiana. The group has been bridging the gap between veterans and suicide prevention ever since.
This holiday season, the group started a new initiative. With many veteran groups coming together for the first time, Stop 22 Michiana and Blue Star Mothers made 1,114 care packages for military members.
