Strong storms knock out power to thousands in Michiana

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. — Strong winds and heavy rains caused power outages and knocked over trees in Michiana Monday evening.

Indiana-Michigan Power tells ABC57 that St. Joseph County in Indiana is the area most affected. There are currently 21,000 people without power.

In Elkhart, 8,000 people are without power. And in La Porte there are more than 2,000 people without power.

Berrien County has 1,500 people without power. In St. Joseph County, Michigan there are 700 people without power and Cass has just over 2,000 people without power.
