Student accused of posting picture of gun, shooting threat on social media

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A Michigan City High School student was arrested Monday evening after allegedly posting a gun and a threat a shooting would happen at the school the next day.

Michigan City Police were notified around 6:30 p.m. about the post threatening a shooting on social media.

Police said the postings indicated there was an argument between two students and one of the students posted the threat.

The 16-year-old male was taken into custody at 10:27 p.m.

He is being held at the La Porte County Jail on a preliminary charge of intimidation, a level 6 felony.

The student's name has not been released.
